An island in the far north of Germany. I have been traveling there regularly for the last 15 years and have kind of fallen in love with this place. When thinking of Sylt many love it’s outstanding and varying landscape. Others love and live it’s outstanding offer for the rich and beautiful with pricing for houses exceeding almost every other around the nation….
What seems to be an eastern dump of 56 inhabitants right across the former border between East and West-Germany turns out to be a spot rich in hospitality, laid-back attitude and an openness I would not have expected. And forget about the accidentally displaced species such as the invisible king-crabs offshore in Norway. Check this!…

Kenya is indeed one of the few private places I have come back several times. I just appreciate being with the people down there and to see, how they manage their life!
The Balkan – for many synonymous with chaos, poverty and safety issues, so it was for me, but was proven wrong! The countryside is beautiful, the people greet you whole-heartedly and food is nice. Even the roads prove to be much better than expected….
Lithuania, a country on the outskirts of the EU, member of the Baltic tigers, small but beautiful. I once called it a ‚mickey mouse country‘ and after having been there several times, admittedly that is wrong….
The Odenwald is a hilly area west of Frankfurt. I am much surprised that me, despite being on a longer break, I have no current urge to go far places but stay rather in close-by regions….
